The Language of Non-Existent Rivers
My work seeks to create a sensory experience for the viewer: the smell of the rust or wood, the softness of the loose strings, a feeling of time or isolation, perhaps an inner narrative that is called to mind when confronted with certain colors and imagery. The process itself is paramount to me, the finished pieces are simply evidence of the experience. By infusing memories into the materials through this creation, I am able to honor this time and make tangible connections to the world while I work. These are evidence of my first year in the MFA program at Washington State University.
